Throughout the beta, we’ve tried a lot of different approaches with our tutorial and new user experience in general. As the game mechanics are quite unique, we need to give users a solid foundation to start from. However, most people don’t like reading stuff on screen and they don’t learn things if there is too much handholding. So we’ve tried to find the balance between an informative set of tutorial steps that are also challenging and an enjoyable part of the game. Rather than feeling like something you are being forced to do and try to rush past to get onto the good stuff. We worked with a UX expert during the summer to find the right balance for our game.
